Summer Internship: News Publications

We’re looking for Summer Interns that are smart, forward-thinking students or recent college graduates to join our class team of people who are passionate about what they do. Experience and get an inside view to the weekly newspaper production activities.

American Geophysical Union (AGU) is seeking a summer intern to work in the Strategic Communications & Outreach Department supporting the Editor in Chief of Eos our weekly publication. This position is a combination of editorial production administrative responsibilities with some editing and writing tasks. You will learn about editorial production and about what kinds of support a weekly publication's requires. You will use skills in writing, editing, proofing, and quality-control. You will help edit and process meeting reports and other articles. There will be research, light fact checking and other tasks to support the Editor in Chief.

Applicants for this internship will be required to have an excellent eye for detail and the ability to juggle and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Also required are excellent English and grammar skills, research skills, basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat programs (i.e. for InDesign), ability to adhere to deadlines, science writing and good communication skills. Past proofreading experience a plus. Must be able to work full-time hours and independently and as part of a team. Majoring in physical sciences or journalism/publications production a plus.
